Abbot Faritius' Herb Garden - An Exhibition in The Abbey Buildings; September 2021

In 2021, we responded to the "food and drink" theme by considering how herbs might well have played  a part in the life of Abingdon Abbey, particularly during the time of Abbot Faritius, who had a reputation as a healer and man of medicine. There was an exhibition about the career of Faritius and the interesting relationship he had with royalty which resulted in the restoration of the Abbey to wealth and importance, followed by a relaxing walk around our temporary herb garden, complete with medieval advice on the use of the herbs on display.
